Being an introvert doesn’t mean you have to settle for a 9-5. Introverts make amazing entrepreneurs and in this article we look at some of the world’s richest and most successful business people who also happen to be introverts.

Founder of Microsoft and the richest person in the whole world, Bill Gates is a self confessed introvert. He claims that it is being an introvert that has really helped him to be as successful as he is. It is the introverts ability to shut themselves off from the world while they work through a problem, that means that they often come up with new and innovative ideas.  He does suggest that when hiring, you look for a good balance of both introverts and extroverts to ensure that you have a well rounded set of skills in your employees. 

2. Steven Spielberg

Despite being one of the world’s most well known directors, Steven says he is really an introvert. He prefers spending time alone and watching movies, which is how he came to his career choice. 

3. Larry Page 

Larry is one of the founders of Google and was made their CEO in 2011. He originally faced heavy criticism over his appointment as it was well known that he was a very quiet and reserved person, with a bit of geekiness thrown in too. However, he is now proving to be a very popular leader amongst the Google fans and staff.

The founder of Facebook, Mark is often described as being very shy.  A computer programmer at heart, he has had to grow into his role of CEO of Facebook as his company has grown. 

5. J. K. Rowling

The author of the very successful Harry Potter series of books is another famous introvert.  Being an author is a popular career choice for those who are happy to spend many hours in their own company writing away at a computer.
